Pay Rate: £35 - £36 per hour (assignment rate)

Main Duties:
- To provide expert musculoskeletal/ physiotherapy assessments and treatments and mange their own caseload in a Musculoskeletal Outpatient clinical setting.
- To work as an autonomous practitioner, to be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own clinical and non-clinical activity. This includes working within the extended scope of practice and treating patients within general professional guidelines and standards as determined by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and any other appropriate source
- To be responsible for the management of a complex clinical caseload providing a high level of clinical expertise and exemplifying good practice in the assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal disorders.
- To triage referrals into the service or refer direct to secondary care where indicated.
- To request and interpret medical investigations where appropriate (e.g. blood tests, x-rays, MRI)
- To follow up the results of clinical investigations and communicate results to the patient and patients GP and arrange further management as necessary
- To be part of the results rota and be responsible for actioning any “Urgent” results as per clinical pathways.
- To treat and manage patients appropriately with a range of options including; advice for GP’s, direct listing of patients for interventions, referring patients onto a medical Consultant or surgeon for a medical/surgical opinion, Chronic Pain service, community services or follow-up appointment as necessary. This requires the analysis of complex information and the evaluation of a range of options regarding on-going management to provide the most appropriate pathway of care for the patient.
- Determine diagnosis and formulate individualised management and treatment plans, using a wide range of management skills/options to formulate specialised and progressive programme of care. This will include carrying our joint injections, delegating care to physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants where appropriate.
- If necessary undertake independent prescribing following approved training and registration within your own level of experience and competence according to current legislation. Attend relevant update training as required to maintain own competencies.
Requirements of the Physiotherapist:
- Qualified physiotherapist, i.e., Degree or equivalent within Physiotherapy.
- Recent UK experience within specialised physiotherapy.
- Registered with the HCPC as a physiotherapist to work in the UK.
- NHS experience would be advantageous but not essential.
