Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Gastroenterologist to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role involves diagnosing and treating conditions related to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, offering a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to patient care and wellbeing. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing various gastrointestinal diseases, conducting endoscopic procedures, and providing expert consultation to both patients and healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed patient evaluations, including obtaining medical histories and performing physical examinations.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of gastrointestinal diseases, such as acid reflux, ulcers, IBS, IBD, and cancers of the GI tract.
- Perform endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopies and colonoscopies, to diagnose conditions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide a comprehensive approach to patient care.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in gastroenterology to provide evidence-based treatment options.
- Participate in research studies and clinical trials to advance the understanding and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding GI health and treatment plans.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Medical degree and completion of a residency in internal medicine, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology.
- Valid GMC registration and the legal right to practice medicine in the UK.
- Proven experience in gastroenterology, ideally with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
- Proficiency in performing standard endoscopic procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex medical information in an understandable manner.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and research in the field of gastroenterology.

Preferred Skills:
- Experience with advanced endoscopic techniques is a plus.
- Ability to lead and mentor junior staff and contribute to medical education.
