Are you looking for your next step in school leadership? This may be the role for you. We are looking for a qualified, experienced teacher to join our academy as Associate Assistant Principal. At Harris Garrard Academy, you will join a dedicated and open team of professionals supporting the wider academy team.

Harris Garrard Academy is a new school with drive and ambition. Located in the wider South Thamesmead area, we cater to a vastly vibrant 3-19 aged student community. Accessible by fantastic rail and bus transport links, the academy's stunning working environment is within a purpose-built school designed by Norman Foster and nominated for the Stirling Prize for architecture in 2004.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing strategic oversight across the Academy
• Working alongside members of SMT to develop systems for monitoring, and evaluation
• Working alongside members of SMT to develop the quality of Teaching
• Leading and encouraging innovation in curriculum development
• Overseeing the application of cross curricular priorities to raise achievement
• Supporting the building an effective team of motivated teaching and support staff
• Performance management of staff
• Participating in ITT and NQT training and induction programmes
• Ensuring that challenging targets are set and communicated for each subject area
• Participating in the monitoring, evaluation and review of teaching and learning in line managed areas
• High quality and regular monitoring, evaluation and review summaries
• Undertaking an appropriate programme of teaching in accordance with the duties of a standard scale teacher

There will be additional specific areas of responsibility that would be undertaken as a member of SMT, which we will discuss with you at interview.

Qualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

• A good undergraduate degree
• QTS (or equivalent)
• Minimum of two years at subject leadership level
• Experience of delivering high quality INSET to teaching staff
• Proven success in raising achievement as a subject leader across at least two key stages.
• Evidence of leading, supporting and managing others, both individuals and teams, ensuring high quality performance
• Successful experience of processes of monitoring, evaluation and review that provide performance data that can be used to improve the quality of teaching and learning
• Strong ICT skills and experience of how new technologies can be used to raise achievement, including the use of interactive white boards
• Recent experience of involvement in innovative curriculum development
• Experience of presenting to an audience including teachers, managers, governors and parents
• Ideas of how Language, Literacy and Numeracy can be used across the curriculum to raise standards
• Experience of embedding innovative strategies for improving teaching and learning
• Experience of managing and implementing change successfully at subject level
• Experience of using coaching as a model for ensuring on going professional development particularly with subject leaders
