Client Details
Leading Surrey based multi academy trust are looking to recruit a Finance Business Partner on a permanent basis. To work in conjunction with the Head of Finance by providing strategic advice and operational guidance to the Principals in the development of their budgets, taking account of additional funding streams and resources that can be tapped into by the Trust ensuring compliance with legal and financial regulations and the Trust's financial policies and procedures
Description
This is a senior role within the finance team with responsibility for:
- Working alongside Principals to guide, support and provide challenge with the annual budgeting process and ensuring they are constructed on a consistent set of assumptions. Reviewing and consolidating school budgets and preparing three-year financial budget.
- Providing advice and guidance for school Principals, including modelling scenarios and preparing monthly monitoring reports, checking for accuracy and consolidating for the Head of Finance.
- Create and maintain a knowledge hub on school statutory funding and income.
- Facilitate smoothonboarding of new schools during the Academy conversion process through ensuring: the understanding of Trust Finance Policy and Procedures, understanding of the role of the partnership finance team and their interactions with the school access and training to Trust finance systems
- Support and guidance in the creation of new schools initial budgets
- Understanding of the ESFA financial handbook for academies
- Managing the relationships and administration of Trust finance systems including Iris Budgeting software
- Compiling and submitting all forecasted Statutory Returns including BFR after review by the Head of Finance
- Supporting the Senior Finance Manager in the preparation of all historic Statutory Returns including Annual Accounts and Financial Statements
- Providing full support to the external and internal audits including preparation and compilation of audit files
- Producing internal and external benchmarking reports
- Contributing to the financial efficiency and effectiveness of the Trust through continual review of the Finance Policy and operational procedures to ensure they remain up to date and reflect best practice.
- Compiling and submitting all forecasted Statutory Returns
Profile
ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant
- Understanding of financial systems and double entry book-keeping
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Successful experience of working in a school or Academy financial background with strong knowledge of school funding, annual budget creation and budget monitoring
