Assistant Accountant

MacKenzie King are delighted to be recruiting an Assistant Accountant for a well-established, reputable business in Bildeston, Suffolk. As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a key part of the finance team supporting the management accountant in preparation of monthly management information and providing support and cover for the wider finance team.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Working with surveyors to process certs into contract sales invoices
- Maintaining the sub-contractor application and certification records, working with the Surveyors to ensure the company processes the applications and invoices efficiently
- Maintaining the fixed asset register, processing depreciation journal monthly and reconciling all nominals to the register
- Prepayments & accruals calculation and posting
- VAT returns
- CIS return processing
- Co-ordinating and working with production in the stock allocation journals
- Working with purchasing to support the supplier approval and system set up
- CVR Movements reviewed, reported and explained each month
- Reviewing and maintaining internal contracts and communicating and posting changes required to the Management Accountant
- Ad-hoc analysis of the accounts as required by the Management Accountant
- Working with the auditors and the management accountant
- Promoting/Working towards the Company Mission Statement, Core Values and Company Annual Objectives
- Providing support and cover for purchase ledger, payroll time sheet collation and other accounts functions over holidays or busy periods
- Any other duties the Company may ask you to perform
- Working to the high level of quality expected within the Department.
- Ensuring compliance with all Company Quality and Environment Procedures
- Ensuring compliance with all Company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures
- Liaising with auditors
Qualifications and experience
- Confident communicator
- Strong excel knowledge
- Accurate with attention to detail
- Good time management and time keeping
- Ability to prioritize workload and deal with busy deadlines
- Sage 200 and CIS experience desirable
