Design/Development Engineer
An industry-leading engineering manufacturer, known for its innovative approach to the design of new products and concepts, is currently seeking a highly skilled Design/Development Engineer to join their team based in North Kent. This role offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to the development of cutting-edge solutions, ensuring alignment with stringent business and industry requirements.
Role Overview: The Design/Development Engineer will be instrumental in the design, verification, and maintenance of detailed technical design drawings, schematics, and specifications using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. This position involves close collaboration with the engineering team to prepare manufacturing instructions, resolve manufacturing issues at early stages, and ensure product compliance with design objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilise CAD and CAE tools for detailed technical design, ensuring readiness for manufacture.
- Prepare Manufacturing Instructions for new products and resolve early-stage manufacturing issues.
- Work closely with internal and external customers during the design process, adhering to design briefs and resolving discrepancies.
- Support the design and development of mechanical interconnects, understanding failure modes and integration into customer systems.
- Ensure product development meets design objectives and complies with Martec policies, including COSHH.
Requirements:
- Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a solid understanding of electrical principles.
- Experience in the Military, Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Subsea, or Medical industries.
- Proven design engineering background, with experience in NPI and working within high-risk environments.
- Strong knowledge of materials (Metals, Glass), LEAN 5s principles, and commercial/business acumen.
- Proficiency in CAD systems, with a demonstrated understanding of export compliance.
