Job description
Position Summary
The Senior Analyst is responsible for supporting the HR applications including integration to other platforms such as finance, payroll, compensation, and benefits systems.
The incumbent plays a pivotal role in enhancing the employee experience by delivering a scalable digital-first experience, identifying self-service and automation opportunities, ensuring processes are seamless, and prioritizing an intuitive user experience.
This individual will lead the HR functional business requirements process by providing expertise in business analysis, requirements gathering, facilitation, troubleshooting, and the development of test scripts.
This role reports to the Manager, HR Technology & Analytics and is an integral part of the HR Operations team.
Responsibilities
Technology Partner
- Partners across HR and business leaders to meet evolving business requirements and lead system enhancement opportunities, gather requirements, design, configure, and test system solutions to improve the employee experience.
- Evaluate the status quo and identify opportunities for automation and process optimization while valuing the employee experience
Systems Expert
- Acts as the SME by understanding system implications, identifying gaps/opportunities, and recommending optimal solutions for adoption.
- Participates in systems integration design and builds, identifies issues/risks, and monitors/troubleshoots.
- Leads the planned system releases/ updates including testing, adoption of functionality, and impact analysis.
- Serves as a solution domain expert, supporting the discovery, design, configuration, documentation, testing, and post-implementation of HR system enhancements.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate Change Control procedures for system maintenance.
- Ensures documentation is thorough and complete; develop reference material and facilitate training as necessary.
Data Reporting & Analysis
- Develops and maintains simple to complex reports utilizing the HCM and additional data sources to deliver clear, insightful reports and dashboards.

Education
- Completed post-secondary degree in a Business Program or a degree in a Human Resources program combined with subsequent formal technical and systems training or experience with ERP products such as PeopleSoft, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, and Workday.
- Business Analysis certification would be an asset.
Experience
- Five (5) years of HR system experience (Core HR, Time & Labour, Absence Management, Benefits, and Payroll, Employee/Manager Self Service) translating HR business requirements into HR application functionality including project management, release management, process design, configuration, testing and successful implementation.
- Similar experience within a post-secondary or public sector organization is preferred.
Skills
- Ability to write queries and understand PeopleSoft HCM data structure and configuration tables.
- Strong technical, and critical-thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.
- HR functional knowledge is required.
- Aptitude to work under pressure and adeptly manage multiple demanding timelines and constantly changing priorities.
