Exciting Opportunity at GCU UK Ltd: Overhead Fibre Splicer
Are you a skilled Overhead Fibre Splicer ready for a rewarding challenge? GCU UK Ltd is expanding its telecommunications infrastructure across the North of Scotland and is actively seeking dedicated professionals to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct live network Fusion splicing using Fujikura 70s or similar equipment.
- Splice and test external optical fibres in alignment with quality standards, utilizing OTDR, ILM, PMD, CD, EXFO FTB200, or similar tools.
- Generate comprehensive Fibre characterisation reports.
- Work individually and collaboratively to meet targets and KPIs.
- Adhere to Health and Safety legislation for a secure working environment.
- Understand cabinet locations using completed site proposals, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS).
- Connect fibres within the new infrastructure using methods such as Fibre Panels, Blown Fibre Tube boxes (BFT), and Installation of Node (Splicing Distribution Point) within chambers/duct.
- Perform testing using equipment like OTDR, fibre light pens, and power meters.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven track record in fibre optic splicing and site experience.
- Familiarity with design schematics, duct diagrams, and works instructions.
- Ability to produce, update, and interpret daily work logs, data recordings, and network design maps.
- PIA Accreditation, SA001 and SA002.
- Full UK driving license and valid NRSWA street works certification are mandatory.
