Connect Appointments are recruiting a Customs and Shipping Clerk to join our Sunderland based client.

• £25,000 - £28,000 per annum

Working as a Customs and Shipping Clerk your duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Compile data from multiple suppliers for import customs clearance
• Scrutinise customs invoices for accuracy
• Liaise with suppliers for documentation amendments
• Be point of contact for hauliers and agents for customs clearance
• Classify items in accordance with the rules of interpretation
• Come to appropriate customs valuation based on the methods of valuation
• Apply preference to import customs entries as required
• Arrange shipments to and from third party contractors
• Arrange export shipping documentation such as customs invoice, packing list, certificate of origin
• Prepare dangerous goods notes
• Book export shipments via online portals
• Maintaining master data
• Compiling data for monthly metrics

To be successful in this position, you must have the following skills and experience:

• Processing purchase orders in line with MRP suggestions
• Processing purchase orders for non-inventory items and sub-contracting
• Expediting foreign and domestic suppliers to meet deadlines
• Ensure smooth delivery of goods and services to fulfil production requirements
• Checking and approving invoice discrepancies
• Processing complaints regarding incorrect deliveries
• Effective stakeholder liaison
• It is expected that the successful candidate will have a good level of relevant experience, excellent communication and IT skills
• Experience of ERP/MRP systems would be preferable but not essential.
