Job description
A leading distributor of heating, plumbing and bathroom products, who is part of a successful £1 billion turnover group, is looking for a Category Manager to join their operation in the UK.
In this position, you will be working closely with a number of strategic suppliers (Far East and UK) to ensure favourable commercial terms and product availability for the business’ own-brand plumbing product range.
Role Responsibilities
As a Category Manager, your role responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining strong professional relationships with suppliers (initially own-brand products but with the potential to move onto higher-level branded suppliers)
- Negotiating supplier arrangements
- Sourcing and developing new supplier relationships
- Monitoring supplier performance and conducting pricing analysis
- Brand development and supporting the sales team
- Managing promotional opportunities and clearance stock reduction
Job Package
As a Category Manager, you will receive a package including:
- A starting salary between £55,000- £65,000 (depending on experience)
- Substantial annual profit share bonus

- Flexibility on remote and hybrid working with some of your time working/ attending meetings at their north Birmingham or Bedford locations
Requirements
- Commercial procurement experience where demonstrable results have been achieved
- Broad experience in developing long-term supplier relationships
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- Bright, articulate and driven to make an impact and achieve results
- Understanding of Far East sourcing and supply chain dynamics
- Experience of own-brand product management and heating and plumbing products
- Experience of working within a wholesale and distribution environment is desirable
