Background
Previously located in the School of Social Sciences, the School of Business became the tenth school in the University on 1st August 2019, making us one of the UK's newest business schools. Although recently established in terms of structure, the school is founded on extensive experience in research, teaching, and impactful engagement with organisations and professions. Our efforts have recently been recognised, as we have been shortlisted by Times Higher Education as "Business School of the Year" - the only Scottish school to receive this nomination.
The School of Business has grown significantly with our total student numbers increasing by 40% in the last 5 years with considerable expansion in taught postgraduate courses. The research culture has been a focus for significant development, and this has included membership of ESRC and AHRC doctoral training partnerships, recruitment and support for early career researchers and research programmes which are resulting in significant funding and outputs. In addition, we have several professional accreditations and are in the process of further accreditation which will enhance the reputation of the school. The school has recently appointed a champion to promote the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) within the School's activities.
In our search for individuals to fill the position of Programme Director, we seek exceptional professionals who align with the University's core values, emphasizing the importance of valuing people, collaboration, integrity, making a tangible impact, and the pursuit of excellence. We are specifically interested in candidates who not only embrace interdisciplinary perspectives within the realms of business and management but can also demonstrate significant experience in senior leadership roles in SMEs. Moreover, we are keen on individuals who can contribute to fostering an outstanding participant experience.
