What you will do in your working day
Overview of role:
The Queen Elizabeth Academy are seeking to appoint an apprentice Attendance Officer to join our well established, friendly administration team, taking a full and active part in the varied daily life of our forward thinking, modern academy. Improving attendance and reducing persistent absence post-Covid is a key area for improvement for the academy. The ideal candidate for this role will be energetic, enthusiastic, can build positive relationships with people and work closely with families and children.
The role involves working as part of our Attendance team at The Queen Elizabeth Academy, supporting in completing home visits, meeting and communicating with parents and students, recording and reporting attendance data, and developing strategies to improve the attendance and punctuality of students within the Academy. We are looking to recruit someone to work closely with the Assistant Principal to ensure that the relevant procedures are followed and external agencies involved as appropriate. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, able to work well within a team but also to use their own initiative when required. Attendance data will be used as a performance indicator of the team the impact are having in improving attendance and reducing persistent absence at the Queen Elizabeth Academy.
Key responsibilities:
- To be responsible for overseeing the support process; including completing the relevant paperwork for referrals when required.
- To liaise with external agencies and parents/carers as
appropriate, making sure that Warwickshire LA guidelines are followed. - To support the academy in improving punctuality of students.
- To provide data as required to members of SLT in line with academy reporting procedures.
- To assist the Assistant Principal in enabling students to access Alternative Curriculum packages as necessary.
- To attend meetings with Year Teams, SEND team and other appropriate groups to develop good practice and monitor attendance issues.
- To represent the academy in any civil and court proceedings and give evidence if necessary.
- To play a full part in the life of the academy community and to support its goals.
- To adhere to and promote the academy’s corporate policies.
- To be responsible for own health and safety and that of students and staff, in accordance with the Health and Safety policies to ensure wellbeing of all people on site.
Skills & Personal Qualities:
- Competent and confident in the use of ICT and Microsoft office
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently
- Be able to record basic data.
- Work as part of a team appreciating and supporting the role of other people in the team.
- Ability to improve your own practice

- Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard qualification
