As we continue to deliver on our current growth, 2024 is continuing to provide sustainable growth within the organisation, an exciting new opportunity has risen for a Group Water Design Manager specializing in the water industry to come and join us, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing water-related projects across the United Kingdom. Your expertise will play a crucial role in delivering sustainable and efficient solutions in the water industry. You will collaborate with a diverse team of Design engineers, technicians, Design houses and stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of projects within budget and on schedule.
We are looking for a key person to elevate the OCU Group into AMP 8 and help to formulate our strategies going forward within the water sector nationwide. We have invested heavily in new technology and being at the forefront of the industry is our key goal and we need the right person to help us get there.
The role can based from any of the North West offices.
Responsibilities :
- Water System Design: Develop detailed designs for water distribution and treatment systems, including pumps, pipelines, valves, control systems, and electrical equipment. Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Project Management: Lead and coordinate projects from inception to completion, overseeing design, implementation, and commissioning phases. Collaborate with other teams, including civil engineers, environmental engineers, and construction professionals.
- Technical Expertise: Provide specialized knowledge and expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering aspects of water systems. Resolve complex technical issues and provide innovative solutions to optimize project outcomes.
- Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates and budget projections for water-related projects. Monitor project expenses and make cost-effective decisions to meet financial objectives.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality checks on design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
- Sustainability and Environmental Considerations: Integrate sustainable practices and environmental considerations into design and construction processes, aiming to minimize the impact on natural resources.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges related to project delivery and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Client Engagement: Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements and objectives. Regularly update them on project progress and address any concerns or inquiries.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and standards to ensure designs and projects meet all relevant legal requirements.
- Team Collaboration: Foster effective communication and collaboration within the engineering team and other stakeholders to achieve seamless project execution.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or Chartered Engineer status is preferred.
- Proven experience in the design and management of water-related projects, with a focus on both mechanical and electrical systems.
- In-depth knowledge of water distribution, treatment processes, and related equipment.
- Proficiency in relevant design and analysis software/tools.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams and clients.
- Understanding of sustainability principles and environmental considerations in engineering projects.
- Familiarity with UK water industry regulations and codes.
