Trustee of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT)

Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust (BBOWT)

Location

Buckinghamshire | United Kingdom

Job description

If you are committed to devoting your skills, knowledge and experience to help achieve our aims then we want to hear from you. We are particularly seeking those with experience in fundraising and/or marketing, memberships and communications.

What will you be doing?

You will be supported to act as a spokesperson, ambassador and advocate for BBOWT (e.g. at events, on social media), to help develop the Trust’s networks with key partners, funders, donors and other stakeholder groups and be passionate about the value of nature and how it can enrich communities.

We value lived experiences equally to professional qualifications and recognise how this broadens our engagement with underserved audiences, especially those from ethnically diverse backgrounds. We critically reflect on our actions and behaviours to ensure that our Board is a safe and empowering space for ethnically diverse people and welcome a conversation if you would like to find out more about our work and ethos for change.

What are we looking for?

We are particularly seeking those with experience in fundraising and/or marketing, memberships and communications. We would also welcome applications from people with a range of different experiences and expertise. We value lived experiences equally to professional qualifications and recognise how this broadens our engagement with underserved audiences, especially those from ethnically diverse backgrounds.

What difference will you make?

We are a membership-based voluntary organisation with a vision for more nature everywhere, for everyone.  We manage over 80 nature reserves, influencing land management to benefit nature across the three counties and educating and encouraging all sectors of the community to care for local wildlife.

We have a bold  vision of a wilder Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, with more nature everywhere – for everyone – in towns and rural areas. We all need nature – for clean water, food and fresh air - but nature needs us too. Our mission is to bring about nature’s recovery by inspiring and empowering local people and partners to help bring nature back.

To put nature into recovery, we need 30% of all land in our region properly managed for wildlife by 2030. And that’s good for our climate too. By working together, we can create bigger, wilder, more connected landscapes across our three counties, so nature and people can thrive.

Before you apply

Please apply through Reach in the first instance. Candidates will be asked to complete our additional application form.

Short-listed applicants will be invited for a short Zoom interview on 25th or 26th March 2024. This will enable further shortlisting and the remaining candidates will be invited to spend time in person with current trustees and the CEO, in two-way conversations to discern the best fit for each role. These conversations will take place on 22nd or 25th April 2024.
