About the role

Balfour Beatty Power Transmission and Distribution has an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Lead to join our Power Transmission and Distribution team.

We offer the opportunity for a mix of part-time working from home, and at our main offices.

This role will see supporting the Design and Engineering Director setting the direction and strategy for our in house design teams and our supply chain designers to comply with the latest Net Zero legislation and guidance, and supporting operational teams, project engineers and managers championing best-practice, and helping deliver a culture of continual improvement.

What you'll be doing

• Set the strategy for compliance with PAS 2080.
• Help maintain relationships with our main clients, regulators, and subcontractors.
• Engage with the rest of Balfour Beatty in selecting an appropriate carbon calculator that can be aligned to the specific Engineering designs that we undertake in Power Transmission.
• Drive the roll out of carbon reduction initiatives through the design process.
• Report monthly to the D and E Director and the rest of the Senior Leadership Team on progress and what interactions are required;
• Attend Sustainability Leadership groups with our clients and other members of the supply chain.

Who we're looking for

• Experience and strong knowledge of environment management, sustainable development and related best-practice protocols.
• Educated to degree level in Engineering or Environmental Science
• Experience of the practical application of PAS 2080 in design management.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Good understanding of Carbon and carbon reporting tools
• Experience of managing a team of environment and sustainability professionals
• Strong understanding of the utilities/construction/engineering operating environment
