Researcher in Food System Analysis

We are seeking a Researcher in Food System Analysis who will play an important part in the delivery of the 2-year project and work closely with Researchers at the Queens University Belfast, University College Dublin, University of Galway, and Technological University of Shannon.

The Researcher will report to Dr Monika Zurek in the Environmental Change Institute at the University of Oxford. The post holder will be a member of the ECI Food Systems Transformation research group. The Researcher will apply knowledge and experience of qualitative and quantitative research methods, systems thinking and an understanding of the processes for food system transformation.

Particular emphases will be on (i) analysis of the island of Ireland’s food system activities and outcomes, and (ii) identifying a set of compatible, integrated food system outcome metrics and visualisations to facilitate multi-actor negotiations on food system sustainability. Working with modellers, the Researcher will support dynamic multistakeholder dialogue on what is desired change and what are acceptable trade-offs.

Holds PhD/DPhil in relevant field - Grade 7 or nearing completion of a relevant PhD/DPhil to be considered a Grade 6 with a commensurate adjustment in either the essential criteria, responsibilities or duties. You will have experience in analysing interactions between nutrition, environmental, social and /or economic variables. You will have relevant experience in quantitative and qualitative systems methods and approached for trade-off analyses. Be pro-active and able to work independently and as well as part of a team, whilst managing and prioritising a busy workload. The post holder needs to commit to advancing diversity and inclusion. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research results, and represent the research group at meetings.
