Job description

OC educational programmes bring about change for young people, aged 9-21 years in East Hants who are disengaged from mainstream education. We are seeking trustees, across a range of expertise to support our strategic growth.

What will you be doing?

OC is at a key stage of its organisational development. We are now well established as an Alternative Education Provider with a network of referral partners and an exciting delivery model which is impactful and innovative.

The last five years have seen OC transform from a small start up to a substantial organisation. After this period of rapid growth, largely in direct to response to very real need for services for vulnerable young people, we are currently in the process of strengthening the organisational infrastructure and building a strategy for the next 3-5 year phase of development. In order to deliver against the exciting vision for OC and the positive change we can deliver for young people in our area of Hampshire, we need to broaden our trustee board with the skill sets, and commitment needed to support our goals.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a range of experience to build our trustee board. We have identified the following areas (although we would be happy to hear from candidates who feel their experience in other areas may be able to support the organisation):

The qualities we would value in an OC trustee include:

It would be desirable if candidates also had:

What difference will you make?

As part of our board you will support and shape our work and strategic direction, as well as play a key role in us achieving our purpose, to help young people Feel Safe, Belong and Achieve. The next one to three years in OC's journey are going to be pivotal; your contribution will help ensure OC reaches its potential, to solidify and expand our reach, and affect positive and tangible change in the lives of vulnerable young people for years to come.

Before you apply

Please apply through Reach in the first instance. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by our CEO for an informal interview with recommended candidates introduced to the board for their final decision.
