Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities We are seeking a highly motivated senior protein scientist who will have key responsibilities for expanding high-throughput production of protein therapeutics for the discovery of transformative TCR medicines. In addition to identifying and building innovative and state state-of-the-art protein expression and purification techniques, the role will involve liaising with automation expertise to design high-throughput processes that benefit drug discovery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Independently identify, design, develop, and validate state of the art biologics cloning, expression and purification processes for TCR drug discovery
• Liaise with drug discovery colleagues to understand bacterial, mammalian or in vitro transcription/translation (IVTT) protein requirements for biologics discovery
• Analyse, interpret and effectively communicate experimental results, recommendations, and plans to project teams
• Liaise with automation expertise to develop high-throughput solutions for therapeutic protein production within the biologics drug discovery process.
• Maintain a good understanding of state-of-the-art protein science techniques and their applications for biologics drug discovery
• Contribute to identifying, evaluating, building, and applying innovative new protein production techniques
• Troubleshoot and identify resourceful, relevant solutions for complex scientific challenges
• Contribute to peer reviewed publications, patents and international conferences
• Contribute to internal and external collaborations
• Provide technical training to team members where required
• Ensure own work, and work of peers, follow Good Laboratory Practice, and adhere to Immunocore health and safety policies

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential
• Experienced in standard molecular biology techniques e.g. PCR, cloning
• Experienced in cloning, expression & purification of protein biologics from bacterial and mammalian systems
• Track record of identifying, evaluating, and making recommendations on new technologies to pursue
• Track record of solving scientific problems creatively
• Track record of collaborating and contributing as a project team member
• Effective communication of scientific concepts and findings

Desirable
• Knowledge of biologics drug discovery processes
• Experienced in use of automation e.g., liquid handlers
• Track record of implementing innovative solutions to improve processes
