Following their recent acquisition from Capita PLC, the Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure (REI) and GL Hearn businesses are now part of WSP.
Your new role, what's involved?
- Prepare of designs and specifications in accordance with Design Manual Roads Bridges (DMRB).
- Develop designs using AutoCAD, Civil3D and REVIT models (where applicable).
- Deliver work packages with scope to move up to managing schemes and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Provide support to Project Managers within the design team in planning, programming, technical input to the pricing of project briefs, proposals, deliverables and cost estimation.
- Accountable for checking, certifying and authorising for issue designs, documents, approvals, and reports.
- Manage graduate engineers and technicians to deliver work packages coordinating engineering resources.
- Work collaboratively with clients and key stakeholders as necessary to deliver the schemes/projects.
- Mentor and upskill more junior staff helping them develop professionally and progress towards professional qualifications.
YOUR TEAM
- You will be part of the Transport team (Highways, Drainage & Bridges) based in Carlisle, Cumbria near the train station and/or on-site parking for a fee.
- You will be part of the team of 30no engineers varying in experience & skills-sets from apprentices to Associates who have been promoted internally to support in-house people development.
- You will be part of a team that delivers a range project for Local Authority - Cumbria County Council schemes to Design & Build projects for various contractors regionally and nationally.
- You will be involved in various stages of the projects from concept, feasibility, detailed design to construction delivery subject to the project commission.
- You will be part of our team of compelling technical engineers and project managers delivering robust design & project management services.
- You will form part of a team who have delivered and has a proven track record in Cumbria having delivered the three consecutive framework generations and continuing the fourth generation PSF Professional Services Framework in Cumbria.
- You will be part of the wider growth strategy due to on-going bid opportunities in the pipeline which are being focused on such like A595 Bothel and Carlisle Southern Link Road plus many more and will form part of the wider team. Recent schemes win in the area A595 Grizebeck Junctions, Kirkstone Pass and Cavendish Dock Road in Barrow.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent within a highway design role.
- Working towards IEng or CEng status with a professional institute. Professional qualifications is advantageous.
- Highways design experience in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).
- Experience of complying with Designers Duties under CDM
- Experience in delivery geometric designs using AutoDesk Civils 3D is advantageous.
- An extensive knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, standards and procedures including the application of departures from standard.
- NEC and/or Project Management experience is advantageous.
- A passion for design and developing innovative solutions.
- To demonstrate initiative and ingenuity in solving engineering problems.
- A full UK driving license is advantageous.
