Job description
The Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC) has a number of exciting opportunities for Policy and Governance Managers to work in our busy team to deliver an ambitious programme of work with a focus on policy, delivery and governance. The posts have been initially funded through the Home Office to the end of March 2025. They have been established to develop the role of Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) and their equivalents, as the public’s elected voice on policing and criminal justice. .
These are rewarding and demanding roles with responsibility for leading and supporting some of the key deliverables for this programme of work. You will need to have excellent analytical, policy development, communications and problem-solving skills, a strong commitment to the development of the PCC role, and ideally experience of working within the policing governance sector. Areas of work include supporting PCCs to build public trust and confidence in policing, with a focus on effective scrutiny; supporting them to address performance issues in their forces; and developing tools and resources to support Police, Fire and Crime Commissioners with fire governance and Deputy Mayors with their PCC role.
The APCC is the national membership organisation for PCCs, PFCCs, Deputy Mayors and other local policing bodies. We support policing governance to provide national leadership, deliver their priorities locally and to drive strategic change in policing, criminal justice and community safety. These are varied and rewarding roles at the heart of the organisation and provide a unique opportunity to gain further experience of national policing and criminal justice policy.
