Our client is looking for a Rentals Chargehand for a permanent position, located in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire.
The role of the Rental Charge-hand is to report to the Asset Manager and oversee a team of mechanical and electrical technicians in executing assigned maintenance tasks on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company policies, procedures, risk assessments, and method statements. The Rental Charge-hand plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient and effective maintenance operations for the rental assets of the company.
Provides line management to:
Electrical Technician(s) - Rental
Mechanical Technicians(s) - Rental
Hybrid Technicians(s) - Rental
Offshore resources - Rental (when working in the yard)

Responsibilities
- Coordinate and prioritise maintenance, rectification, and commissioning tasks for rental assets.
- Ensure optimal utilisation of resources for timely execution of maintenance activities.
- Monitor asset performance, availability, and reliability.
- Produce high quality reports and documentation.
- Work in accordance with the company QMS
- Monitor compliance with company policies, procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimisation.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Support the Asset Manager to drive business and process improvements which will drive increased profitability, productivity, and quality within the BU.
- Adhere to workflow processes which reflect the actual workflow of the Asset Management function and can be audited.
- Support the Asset Management team working to the implemented processes.
- Participate in internal and external audits.
- Support the process of continuous improvement within the Asset Management function that minimises cost of poor quality.
- Support digitalisation within the Asset Management function by working with Business Improvement Manager and BU Manager
- Manage and lead a team of mechanical and electrical technicians.
- Provide guidance, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork.
- Conduct performance evaluations and address any performance issues.
- Support control of the work and resources of the Asset Management team at the Peterhead facility.
- Support the Asset Manager and HR for future workforce planning
- Work with Asset Manager and HR to identify training and development plans for staff
- Maintain effective communication with clients to understand their requirements and address any concerns.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely availability of parts and equipment.
- Foster strong relationships with clients and suppliers to enhance service delivery.
- Support Projects team with client interfaces during equipment client witness commissioning, FATs.
- Work with SCM and Project Cost and Systems Manager and Buyer to drive supplier relationships and reduce procurement risks (schedule, costs, quality)
Requirements:
- Previous flex lay experience (Mandatory)
- HNC/D (or equivalent) Engineering Qualification (Preferred)
- Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering or equivalent (essential)
- Previous Supervisory experience (mandatory)
- Excellent people management skills (mandatory)
- Able to demonstrate competence in reading and understanding electrical, mechanical or hydraulic drawings (preferred)
- Good level of secondary education (Essential)
- Read and write English (Mandatory)
- Computer literate (Essential)
- Able to identify and use technical tools and instruments.
- Be able to undertake inductive/deductive reasoning to allow job successful performance.
- Able to undertake an analysis of the job requirements and coordinate required equipment (essential)
- Organised and logical approach to work scope planning.
- Understanding of how to operate and work with/around tools & machinery.
- Familiar/ competent in all Microsoft packages including Outlook, Projects, Excel, Word & SharePoint
- Ability to work on own initiative and be self-motivated
- Willingness to learn & adapt
