You and your role
As Risk Manager you will be responsible for supporting the design and implementation of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) as well as promoting a great risk governance and control culture across the business. You will be responsible for supporting the Head of Risk & Governance in the strategic delivery of the RMF including conducting risk & control selfassessments updating risk registers providing risk management advice and guidance and challenging outputs to ensure robust risk reporting. You will build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation ensure risks are effectively managed and positive assurances are delivered to demonstrate the effectiveness of controls and help drive continuous improvement within the business.
Role and Responsibilities
- Assisting with the development of the risk management framework and the design and operation of components including the continued applicability of the framework to the evolving needs of the business
- Drafting of reports for relevant committees concerning risk governance and control
- Reviewing risk registers and constructively challenge the assessment of potential threats/impacts to the business and the quality of actions/controls in mitigation
- Support the development of a strong risk management culture in the 1 st line of defence and ensure all relevant risk owners are fully aware of upcoming deadlines
- Maintain collaborative relationships with relevant stakeholders across the business as well as other 2 nd line and 3 rd line departments
- Managing processes for the review and updating of key risk documentation policies and procedures
- Assisting with the continued development of the internal risk management system and enhancing the reporting and analytical capabilities
- Managing the risk appetite and key risk indicator (KRI) framework including trend analysis and analysis of change against thresholds/tolerances
- Assisting in the development and implementation of robust digital IT and change processes and controls including IT security and disaster recovery
- Coordinating the delivery of risk management training across the group
- Oversee the management of risk events within the 1 st line ensuring that adequate root cause analysis (RCA) is performed and suitable action is taken in mitigation
- Adhoc support to the Head of Risk & Governance and Director of Risk & Compliance and providing proactive risk management support for major group initiatives and projects where required
- Supporting the development of others in the team
- Designing positive assurance and RCA reporting for committee meetings driving continuous improvement and eliminating waste
- Embrace digital ways of working and ensure the Risk & Governance team is operating in the most cost effective way
- To lead by example ensuring the Risk & Governance team are inclusive and value diversity
- Ensure compliance with business and other relevant standards and regulations
Essential Skills and Experience
- Holds a relevant risk management qualification e.g. IRM
- Prior experience in either a risk management audit or control role within financial services
- Understanding of FCA regulation and how it impacts the Group
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and attention to detail
- Able to plan organise and meet deadlines/targets where appropriate
- Effective presentation skills
- Ability to challenge and perform under pressure
- Influencing and persuading skills
- Commercial awareness
Desirable Skills
- Experience in digital and IT risk & control including IT security and disaster recovery
