Role

We are the Third Sector Interface for Dumfries and Galloway. We work alongside the sector, partners and communitiesto address key local priorities, build capacity and maximise investment in our region. As part of the nationalnetwork of Third Sector Interfaces across Scotland, our joint manifesto sets out commitments to enhancing anddeveloping the role of the third sector as a key partner; a focus on place, community and locality; volunteeringand the strengths of local people & communities; a fairer and wellbeing-focussed economy.

We’re now looking for an experienced leader in the third sector to join us as we shape our new strategy and recommitto supporting a strong third sector across Dumfries and Galloway.

As the Lead for Communities and Sector Support, you will lead a team of development officers, support officers andcoordinators whose roles include building sector capacity, collaboration, leadership, good governance,sustainability, planning and volunteering.

You will lead the development of Locality Hubs as part of the Community Planning Partnership and work with partnersin the local authority, NHS and others on priorities such as Place Planning and Safer Communities.

As a member of our Lead Officer Group, you will also have active participation in wider organisational planning anddelivery to ensure progress towards our medium-term outcomes.

To be successful, you’ll join us with experience in a programme or leadership role within the third sector and bringa strong understanding of challenges and opportunities facing the sector in Scotland.

As part of the Employability Team at Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway, the Development Officer will lead thedevelopment of work-based skills and personal development through volunteering.

Supported by our Employability Manager and colleagues across our wider team, the Development Officer will bringlearning, research, and insights together to create an active, capacity-building approach to volunteer foremployment and employability, whilst contributing to the development of our overall volunteering strategy forthe region.

Working in partnership with colleagues in the local authority, health board and enterprise agencies, the DevelopmentOfficer will represent sector challenges and opportunities whilst making connections with the sector to maxmisethe impact of employability activities through the Local Employability Partnership.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase lifechances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.

About Us.

The Highland Third Sector Interface started work in late 2012 and officially launched early 2013. We are funded bythe Scottish Government, among others, and are one of a network of 32 other ‘Third Sector Interfaces’ acrossScotland.

What is a TSI?

A Third Sector Interface provides a single point of access for support and advice for the Third Sector within a localarea. They have an outcome framework that they have to work within, but how that is done is very much based onlocal need and diversity within the geography and nature of the Third Sector in that area.

About the CJP

The Highland Community Justice Partnership (CJP) was established in 2016 in response to the new Community JusticeScotland Act (2016). The role of the Partnership is simply to work better together in partnership to helpprevent offending and reduce reoffending.

About this Role

The model for community justice in Scotland places local strategic planning and delivery of community justiceservices through Community Planning Partnerships. The purpose of this post is to support the delivery of thelocal Highland Community Justice Outcome Improvement Plan, the operation and reporting of the Community JusticePartnership.

Responsibilities:

CJP Support

• Support the CJP to build relationships and cooperation, supporting the development and delivery of the CommunityJustice Outcome Improvement Plan

• To support information sharing and transparency across the governance pathway through the CJP, Highland CPP andelsewhere as agreed.

Community Justice Development

• Support the CJP to leverage in resourcing to deliver change and actions within the Plan that develops approaches tocommunity justice in Highland

• Actively involve the Third Sector, communities, service users, families and victims of offending in the planningand delivery of the work of the CJP and individual partners.

Reporting

• Preparing and submitting reports and other information , with support from the CJP, to Scottish ministers andCJS

• Prepare and submit the annual report, based on the information submitted by the CJP organisations, both to theScottish Ministers/CJS and a second public facing report to demonstrate progression and performance of theCJP

As a team member

• Provide line management for the CJP Development Officer

• Work collaboratively and respectfully of colleagues, stakeholders and others

• Be professional, bringing your best effort and in an honest and non-judgmental way

About the role

Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire is the respected and valued support organisation for the community and voluntarysector in North Lanarkshire.

The role will involve supporting community and voluntary sector (CVS) organisations in North Lanarkshire improve thesupport they provide to local people over 18. For more information, please see the JD and Person Specificationhere
