Job description
Are you excited by the opportunity to develop your skills and work on a range of plant and machinery? Do you want to work in a fast paced, operational environment? We are seeking an Port Operative to work at KGV Docks in our Clydeport cluster, and be part of a team that helps keep the world moving!
As Port Operative, you will work within a team to carry out operations efficiently, effectively and in a safe manner. You will operate plant, machinery and equipment whilst working to Peel Safe Systems of Work. You will report any plant, machinery, equipment and infrastructure defects to the Maintenance department. Based at KGV in Glasgow, however, you will be required to cover at other sites when required.
You will demonstrate commitment to multi-skilled activity where appropriate, including assisting the Maintenance department, undertaking training as required in order to meet business, customer and individual requirements. Working to deliver a safe personal working culture, you will report any incidents, accidents and dangerous occurrences to the Chargehand or Foreman without delay.
Completing all operational duties in an effective and safe manner, you will also operate computer and weighing systems, whilst also cleaning company machinery, work areas, infrastructure and general housekeeping.
You may already be in an operational role or keen to move to your first role at this level. You will have proven experience in an industrial /Port environment, with experience operating Loading Shovels, FLTs and Telehandlers desirable. Due to the demands of the role you will be physically fit with the ability to work at heights and willing and able to work flexibly to meet operational demands. You will be committed to maintaining and contributing to Peel Health and Safety standards, policies and procedures. Knowledge of TASCC scheme compliance would be advantageous. You will be required to be clean shaven to allow face fit testing.
You will have good IT skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office packages. Previous experience of handling bulk products including Animal Feed and Grain would be desirable.
