Full time, 40 hours, Monday- Friday

Permanent

£38,000 Per Annum, plus additional payment of £140 when working on call

Here at Gatwick Immigration Removal Centre, we have an exciting opportunity for a Multi-skilled Technician to join our FM team.

The Multi Skilled Technician will carry out routine HVAC, Mechanical and some electrical Engineering work, preventative maintenance, and repairs. They will assist in multi trade support of other members of the FM service team in completing work.

We are looking for an individual with Mechanical training and background, who can also demonstrate some electrical experience.

The duties for the role will involve things like working on chilled beams and completing work of a HVAC/Mechanical/Electrical Engineer in accordance with their recognised training and qualifications, the installation of new plant and apparatus as may be defined and specified and carrying out fault finding and defect rectification to items of installed plant and equipment as may be defined and specified. Furthermore, the Multi-skilled Technician will carry out investigations into the performance of the plant and equipment installed in the site and to produce related reports and recommendations as may be required. The post holder will assist in specifying and obtaining spare parts, and other items of equipment which may be required to ensure the continuous and efficient operation of the technical estate. They will escort contractors around the site as and when required in accordance with written procedures.

What you need to do the job:

First and foremost, the successful post holder must hold a HVAC/Mechanical and electrical Engineering Qualification (C&G, NVQ).

You must have a Mechanical background and some electrical experience.

This role calls for leadership and setting visible standards of personal performance and accountability and the post holder is expected to function with a degree of independence.

We are looking for an individual with good communication skills who can effectively communicate at all levels, both in writing and orally (including good telephone manner). They must have the ability to prioritise workload and work in a logical and methodical manner.

They must be flexible and proactive with a commitment to customer satisfaction and continuous improvement to working approach.

They will be a team member of the Facilities “Out of hours” call out roster.
