We are delighted to be recruiting for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on behalf of CESSAC & CESSA Housing Association. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a unique organisation comprising both a Service Charity and a charitable Housing Association, dedicated to supporting the Armed Forces and Service Veterans.
CESSAC is a registered Service Charity that has been welcoming Military personnel and their families to its welfare and recreation centres in military bases around the world since 1857. CESSA Housing Association was established in 1974 to provide social housing to Service veterans.
Role Overview
As the current CEO prepares to retire, we seek an exemplary leader to drive forward the organisations strategic vision in line with its core values and beliefs. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the organisations future, providing strong day to day operational leadership whilst ensuring effective governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic advice to the Board, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and constitutional responsibilities.
- Oversee value for money service delivery in collaboration with the Director of Operations, Director of Housing and Head Office Manager.
- Maintain sound financial policies and plans, fostering fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
- Delivering secretariat support to the Board, ensuring the organisation meets its objects and statutory responsibilities.
- Represent CESSAC & CESSA HA externally, fostering positive relationships and seeking opportunities to expand its reach and cultivate positive relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.

Candidate Profile We are seeking an engaging strategic leader with a demonstrated track record of success in complex, people-focused organisations. The ideal candidate will possess:
- Relevant leadership experience and a willingness to adapt to new challenges
- Strong financial acumen and a sound understanding of governance in a regulated environment
- The ability to inspire and engage colleagues, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration
- Previous experience in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Knowledge and understanding of Trustee responsibilities and how a Trustee led organisation operates
- A sound understanding of the demands of military service and/or experience working within housing or charitable organisations and regulators.
Requirements - The role will require both UK and some occasional overseas travel
- The role requires you to be able to commute to Portsmouth
- Full driving licence and own car would be necessary
