Job description
Proper Cornish, a renowned manufacturer and supplier of award-winning pasties and other pastry products, is seeking an experienced and motivated Night Shift QA Technician to join our Technical Team. We offer a starting basic rate of £13.50 an hour. For the night shift the rate is enhanced to £16.88 per hour.
As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, safety, and legality of our products produced during the night shift hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct GMP audits alongside production staff to maintain quality, safety, and legality standards.
- Raise concessions and non-conformances as required, ensuring efficient resolution and monitoring of their effectiveness.
- Check and monitor the efficiency of technical equipment such as scales and probes.
- Perform pre-production swab testing, analyze results, and maintain records.
- Collect samples and swabs for laboratory testing, ensuring adherence to testing schedules.
- Perform random line checks of products to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and legality standards.
- Swiftly and accurately communicate any quality, safety, or legality issues to the management team.
- Investigate quality issues as they arise and report findings to the management team.
- Maintain the factory Foreign Body log and issue quarantine and hold notices when necessary.
- Conduct organoleptic testing of raw materials and final products to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Provide support to the production team on aspects of the Manufacturing system.
Key Attributes:
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality control processes.
- Proven experience in a technical environment, preferably within a food manufacturing setting.
- Possession of Food Safety Level 2 certification.
- Familiarity with BRC standards and experience working to uphold them.
- Strong coaching skills to effectively train and support production staff.
- Exceptional organization, prioritization, and time management abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining quality standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-centric approach.
- Able to work flexibly within the night shift hours (22:00 - 06:30) Sunday to Thursday.
- Demonstrated qualities of friendliness, honesty, customer-first mentality, passion, and a commitment to quality.
