Cornwall Health for Homeless is seeking holistic, empathic GPs who are looking both for sessional work and to add new skills to their portfolio. We are a small team and you will be well supported. The service runs regular drop-in clinics in Truro, Camborne and Penzance, along with outreach clinics across the county that are open to people who are either street homeless or in temporary accommodation.
Cornwall Health for Homeless aims to provide a range of healthcare services to people without homes in Cornwall. To achieve this, they work with other organisations which include St Petroc’s and Coastline Homeless Service as well as other local and national statutory groups. Part of their role is to help people live more stable lives and gain access to suitable accommodation.
Clinics run in three permanent locations as well as offering outreach elsewhere across the county and an appointment is not always necessary = people can sometimes drop in during the clinic. Four GPs, 2 nurses, an office manager and admin staff provide the service. Medical advice and treatment is available from the clinics We encourage locums to spend more time with each patient than would normally be available in general practice, and try to view each patient holistically rather than considering their presenting problem only.
