Job description
What you will do in your working day
Your day-to-day role will be to:
- Produce AutoCAD drawings and works instructions for the factory to manufacture
- Produce drawings on AutoCad for pre-tender work enquiries
- Design any customer components that may be necessary to complete installation
- Inspect the finished components to ensure that they are correct to specification, as and when required
- Ensure that projects are completed to the agreed time scale and meet all the requirements of the customer
- Maintain comprehensive notes and records including all design calculations in connection with each design task and will keep such records in a form to simplify their retrieval for future reference
- Identify any key draughting issues or problems and inform Engineering Manager or Drawing Office Supervisor
The training you will be getting
Level 3 (Standard) Engineering Technician.
You will work 4 days per week working with the employer, gaining work experience and learning skills on the job. You will complete college training at Derby College's Roundhouse Campus 1 day per week.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
At the end of this apprenticeship you could progress to be a fully qualified draughtsperson, working in engineering design.
