Maintenance Manager, Wolverhampton, £40-50k

My client operates within the food industry, they are expanding their operations. At present they wish to recruit a skilled Shop Floor Engineer with expertise in electrical, mechanical, and fabrication to join our team.

They are looking for an experienced and versatile Maintenance Manager with a background in mechanical engineering and an electrical bias to lead their maintenance operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, and facilities to ensure uninterrupted production and compliance with safety and quality standards. Responsibilities:

• Maintenance Leadership: Manage a skilled team of maintenance technicians and engineers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. Foster a culture of proactive maintenance and continuous improvement.
• Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of mechanical and electrical equipment, including production machinery, conveyors, packaging systems, and utilities.
• Electrical Expertise: Utilise your strong electrical background to diagnose and address electrical issues, troubleshoot electrical systems, and ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.
• Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to maximize equipment uptime and extend the lifespan of critical assets. Create maintenance schedules, conduct routine inspections, and prioritize maintenance tasks.
• Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergencies, coordinating rapid repairs to minimize production downtime. Analyse root causes of failures and implement corrective actions.
• Spare Parts Inventory: Manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies required for maintenance activities. Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely availability of necessary items.
• Safety and Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and relevant industry regulations. Conduct safety training and promote a safety-first mindset among the maintenance team.
• Data Analysis: Collect and analyse maintenance data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to optimise maintenance processes. Use data to drive informed decisions.
• Vendor Relationships: Manage relationships with external suppliers, contractors, and service providers. Coordinate outsourced maintenance activities and ensure service quality.
• Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance maintenance processes, reduce downtime, increase efficiency, and implement energy-saving measures.

Qualifications:

• Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Electrical engineering knowledge and experience is a strong advantage.
• 2 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
• In-depth understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including experience with troubleshooting and repairs.
• Familiarity with PLCs, motor control systems, and industrial automation.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse maintenance team.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in maintenance safety.
• Experience with computerised maintenance management systems and data analysis.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Flexibility to work on-call and respond to emergencies outside of regular hours.
• Professional certifications and electrical licenses are a plus.

Salary: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
