Job description

St Matthias Academy are looking for an outstanding and inspirational HLTA to work across our secondary sites. St Matthias Academy is a specialist Alternative Provision, catering for KS3 & 4 pupils who have been excluded or at risk of exclusion. Pupils can be referred by schools where they have struggled and it is clear they need additional support in order for them to begin to achieve their potential. We work to create a learning environment which encourages the development of mutual respect, positive relationships and social responsibility leading towards educational and personal success.
This particular role is envisaged as one where the successful candidate uses their initiative to meet pupils in the community, engage them in learning and other activities in order to raise their self-esteem and improve their attendance on site.

Location Rush Hill Bath
For this post you will need:
• experience of working as an LSA/TA with disaffected young people
• experience of delivering enrichment and/or literacy and numeracy intervention
• to be able to motivate and engage young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties
• proven experience in managing disaffected pupils with challenging behaviour to promote positive behaviour
• excellent communication and organisational skills
• to be able to rise to the challenge with a smile
