Job description

This is a permanent post for the position of Reception teacher (full time). The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in Pre-Prep life and to work closely within Early Years and continue to support the children as they move from Nursery to Reception.

All staff undertake their fair share of duties around the Pre-Prep. These include break duties and the running of one after school club each week. This position includes attending Pre-Prep meetings and holding parents meetings, as well as writing reports at the end of term.

The Reception teacher is expected to:

• Lead the Reception class, following the Early Years curriculum and ensuring that every child is given the opportunity to learn and enjoy learning
• Provide a safe, warm and nurturing environment where children feel valued and respected
• Work closely with the Head of Early Years to develop the Reception provision and curriculum both indoors and outdoors
• Work as a team with a teaching assistant, the Early Years staff and the staff in the Pre-Prep.

The Reception teacher is expected, in conjunction with her team, to continue to develop and implement a creative topic and provision plan in line with the requirements of the Foundation Stage curriculum as agreed with the Head of Early Years, to whom he or she will report.
