Job Title: Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Salary: £58,698 – £67,000 dependent on experience

 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

 

Responsible to: Lead Advanced Nurse Practitioner

As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner with us, you'll have the opportunity to work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients of all ages

We provide services in Westminster that give patients a greater opportunity to see a healthcare professional when needed. This includes managing the local online-consultation service for Westminster practices, same-day access clinics for acute illnesses and enhanced access services which let patients see a nurse, ANP, pharmacist or GP during evenings and on Saturdays. Our ANPs currently work across all these services, seeing patients face to face as well as undertaking telephone triage and using advanced skills to remotely manage patients with minor illnesses.

 

 You should be working at an advanced level, in an autonomous role, and a non-medical prescriber with your MSc in advanced clinical practice. What we can offer you is a local training and support package tailored to your needs to allow you to flourish and work independently in primary care settings.

Requirements

ROLE PURPOSE

· We run a range of services and our ANPs work across 3 key services:

- Our eHub is a digital same-day service for our 33 practices. ANPs speak to and possibly see patients assigned to them by our senior clinical decision maker who triages all the e-consultations we receive.

- We run an Extended Access service in the afternoons and evenings of Mon-Fri, and on Saturdays. 

- We run research clinics, where we see and screen patients who are eligible for our studies.

- Furthermore, we employ GP assistants and Nurse Associates and ANPs will be involved in the training and supervision of these staff.

· The post holder will demonstrate courageous and critical thinking and is a caring, compassionate and committed experienced nurse who, acting within their professional boundaries, will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. They will demonstrate safe, competent clinical decision-making and expert care, including assessment and diagnostic skills, for patients within the general practice and other clinical settings.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical

· Working across the following specialities; eHub, Enhanced Access and research

· Triage urgent care requests if required, consulting with patients or directing them appropriately.

· Provide advanced nursing care to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.

· Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory and radiological tests.

· Prescribe and administer medications in accordance with the law and established protocols.

· Collaborate with the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, to ensure comprehensive patient care.

· Maintain accurate patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and progress notes.

· Educate patients and their families about their health conditions and treatment options.

· Stay up-to-date on the latest medical research and guidelines relevant to the clinical specialty.

· Maintain compliance with all relevant clinical standards and regulations.

· Instigate necessary invasive and non-invasive diagnostic tests or investigations and interpret findings/reports.

· Promote health and well-being using health promotion, health education, screening, and therapeutic communication skills (i.e. smoking cessation, weight management, alcohol misuse).

· Refer patients directly to other services/agencies as appropriate.

Essential

▪ Current Registration of Part 1 of NMC Register

▪ 1st Degree/ Master’s level qualification (Advanced Practitioner)

Two year’s post qualification experience – consideration given to ANPs with primary healthcare experience
