Key Objectives

To acquire by purchase, lease or licence any interests in any land and property that may be required by the Council.
To dispose of any interest in any land and property not required by the Council by sale, lease or licence.
To manage the Council’s Commercial Investment portfolio and advise the Council on appropriate strategies for the effective asset management of the portfolio.
To advise on rent reviews, lease renewals, dilapidations and disputes connected to the Council’s portfolio.
To provide property management and valuation advice on the certification of valuations including those for Right to Buy properties on behalf of the Council including signing off delegations as appropriate.
To assist in the preparation and maintenance of the Council’s Property Asset Register and undertake periodic asset revaluations to satisfy International Standards and the District Auditor.
To provide advice on estate and property management issues to the whole of the Council as and when required.
To ensure the effective management and promotion of the
Investment Centre as part of the economic development offered to businesses.
To lead strategic projects in relation to land and property assets including the SAMP process.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors

Degree, or equivalent qualification required

Accredited as a Registered
Valuer

Experience of managing a Commercial Investment Portfolio within a large public sector organisation

Experience of assisting in the production of Property Asset
Registers

Up-to-date knowledge on the certification of Red Book valuations
