Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
from April / May 2024

At Bootham we seek to liberate and equip our young people to flourish as adults and live adventurous lives that will serve to create a better world. Within the school, pastoral care and safeguarding are at the top of our agenda. The school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead will lead the school’s safeguarding and child protection practices, compliance, education and training. The DSL sits on the school’s senior leadership team.
In addition, the postholder will support and help co-ordinate specific pastoral care interventions for identified students or cohorts, in conjunction with all members of the pastoral care team (Deputy Head Pastoral, Heads of Year, Medical Centre, Boarding team, SEND team).
You must have experience of pastoral care and welfare of children and young people, together with experience of working in collaboration with other professions to safeguard children and young people. We are looking for a degree level qualification in a relevant area e.g. education, healthcare, social work or youth work.
