Their state-of-the-art site based in the South of the UK has been equipped with new, modern machinery to meet growing needs and the company has robust plans to invest further, to continue to cement its position as the top-tier market leader in this sector.
Position Insights & Objectives
Our client seeks to recruit an experienced and engaged Engineering Manager with a good understanding of blow-moulding, injection moulding or plastic manufacturing technologies.
You will be the leader of a bustling Engineering Department with an interesting range of responsibilities in this highly influential position. You will be responsible not only for the production division but also for process optimization/improvement, logistics and capex investments in machinery, tooling and other equipment.
This role offers an opportunity to create a long-term development strategy and oversee an annual budget to drive site operational efficiency and growth.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Compliance with all the regulations governing and the maintenance of effective Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality systems.
- Development and implementation of a complete asset management system including maintenance functions.
- Preparation of annual operational and capital expenditure budgets.
- Management of agreed budgets, hiring, day-to-day management, project resourcing etc.
- Prioritizes and drives execution of multiple complex department projects. Sponsors and supports value improvement in the operation.
- Establishes and supports a work environment of continuous improvement that supports our customer’s quality policy.
- Initiates cross-functional partnerships to identify and resolve production/engineering issues.
- Ensure the efficient and timely transfer of process knowledge from project personnel to manufacturing engineers and coordinate the training of production team members on new processes and equipment.
- Managerial, leadership and employee development, ensuring adequate training is provided to satisfy all operational and health and safety requirements.
- Development and implementation of the necessary systems, procedures and protocols ensuring that they meet and adhere to Quality Management System and Design Control requirements.
- Act as Strategic Manager of multiple technologies.
Requirements and Background
- A Degree in Engineering is highly desired together with at least 5 years within a manufacturing environment at a senior level.
- Strong People Management Skills, written and verbal communication skills along with effective presentation skills.
- Knowledge of the latest plastic injection mould tool and automation technology is preferred.
- Possess a good understanding and application of quality, CI lean principles.
- Measures effectiveness and has strong business and financial acumen.
- A highly confident team player with a quality-focused approach and an innovative approach to problem-solving demonstrating a "Right first-time" approach and attention to detail;
- Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with people and situations at all levels.
- Organised, highly motivated, enthusiastic, energetic individual with a goal-focused attitude and able to work effectively with other functional areas.
- The candidate will demonstrate expertise in project management and will possess strong competencies in resources management in a complex demanding environment gained from experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Education, Compensation, & Location
- Experience in working with injection moulding or blow-moulding alongside a proven track record in team management is essential.
- Pay will commensurate with industry standards for the role and experience of the successful candidate.
