Teaching Assistant

Contract: Permanent, Part Time (37 hours / 38 weeks)

Salary: Grade 3, SP4-6 (FTE £23,114 to £23,893 / Actual £19,327 to £19,978)

Start date: ASAP

Churchill Special Free School, a special school in the town of Haverhill located in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. 30 minutes from Cambridge City, 20 minutes from Bury St Edmunds. We are a special school with a unique environment which caters for 70 pupils aged between 8 and 18 working at age related expectations or just below. Our pupils have language and communication difficulties and high functioning autism. Pupils at Churchill school are at the centre of everything we do. 

We have high expectations for both behaviour and achievement and see that every learner has a unique personality and talents to be developed. Our learners access a GCSE curriculum from year 9 onwards. Class sizes are either 11 or 12 pupils with a teacher and another teaching assistant. 

We are part of the Unity Schools Partnership Trust, a trust of about 35 schools and we are trailing out for the first time a 2 week October half term as part of the trust wellbeing strategy. 

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching and Learning Support Assistant. Someone who is looking for a new challenge. Someone who is solutions-driven, organised, proactive, is passionate about SEND pupils and promoting reading for pleasure. Are you that person? If you are!
