Stockport Grammar School
Location
Stockport, Greater Manchester | United Kingdom
Job description
Stockport Grammar School is seeking to appoint an outstanding, enthusiastic and committed individual who has the capacity to coach and deliver lessons and ECAs in a wide range of sports (where possible) whilst fundamentally supporting the provision of Hockey across the whole school in some capacity for either Key Stage 3, 4 or both. The experience and ability to plan, deliver and evaluate the coaching provision is a necessity and will be taken into account when allocating which year group you would support.
It is essential that those who apply for this role have experience of working with children at a secondary-age level. Those individuals who can also demonstrate the ability to and/or have experience of delivering sporting provision across primary ages, too, will be at a distinct advantage.
SGS aspires to cement its position as a leading sporting school in the region and is looking to excel further whilst delivering a broad and balanced curriculum. The department is well resourced and supported. We are keen to build upon recent success in hockey where we were national finalists and also to continue to build upon the growing number of boys taking part in hockey.
If you are passionate about sport, are an aspiring PE teacher (or are already qualified), have ambitions for a future in sport or have a good pedigree of sports coaching and (or) playing experience, then this position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your career working alongside a talented and dedicated PE department in a school with excellent sporting facilities.
This is initially a 12-month fixed-term contract offered with a very competitive salary that illustrates the value the school places on sport. It has the potential to be a long-term position for the right candidate who understands that working in a high-performing sports department requires the individual to go above and beyond. Working at weekends and evenings will form part of the role at various times throughout the school year.
Should you wish to know more about the role before applying, please do not hesitate to contact our Director of Sport, Andy Marsh: [email protected]

Stockport Grammar School welcomes applications from all applicants who meet the requirements for the position; however, we are especially keen to receive applications from those in minority groups for which the school is currently underrepresented. We celebrate diversity and thrive on the benefits it brings.
