Job Description
- To be able to carry out in full the duties of the Fork Lift Operatives (as detailed in the relevant
job description
and manual) - To always act in a professional manner
- To ensure that any forklift is used safely and in the correct manner and that work is carried out in accordance with TPN Ltd’s Health and Safety policy. (As detailed in the Health and Safety Handbook)
- To inform an Operations Manager of any deviance from correct operating practices and take action to remedy.
- To identify any operating practices which become inefficient or not fit for purpose, reporting back to an Operations Manager
- By example and training, assist the FLTD’s in achieving and maintaining a disciplined and safe forklift operation within the shift
- To ensure all Operational processes and procedures are carried out correctly and any deviances are corrected immediately
- To monitor team performance and individuals using scanning figures.
- Assist FLTD’s who are underperforming through coaching and monitoring during the shift
- To help develop new FLTD’s skills and performance
- To provide clear leadership whilst promoting a team atmosphere
- To induct and instruct any new FLTD’s on Hub procedures and correct loading and unloading practices
- To assist with investigations and disciplinary activity
- To manage absence levels through conducting effective return to work interviews
- Give feedback to Operations Managers on new FLTD’s, enabling effective management of staffing levels
- Manage employee break times in accordance with contracted hours and allocated times.
- To communicate all operational information to the team in an effective positive manner
- To inform the Operations Managers of any problems that cannot be resolved within the team
- Motivate team members to ensure scheduled trunk load out times are adhered to
- Ensure all freight is handled in an appropriate manner in line with TPN Fork Lift Truck Driver Manual
- To ensure all FLTD’s report any damaged freight on inbound trailers before removal from the trailer
- To ensure all discrepancies of freight are reported accurately with relevant pictures taken before and after any action which may be required to resolve the discrepancy
- Ensure any freight restacking has been done in a safe and presentable manner.
- To make sure all FLTD’s are performing the relevant bay and wagon checks to avoid Hub Errors.
- Ensure efficient and safe baying up of freight throughout the entire team to maximise space throughout the Hub and reduce damage to customer freight
- Ensure all non fleet FLT’s are used at a minimum where possible
- In a safe and controlled way, attempt to remove any problematic freight from the inbound trailers. Give accurate and detailed discrepancies for all freight which is to be returned to sender
- Ensure all freight through the Hub is scanned by FLTD’s
- Ensure all non performing VMC’s are reported through the relevant process
- Ensure all FLT defects are reported, investigated and then signed off to be handed to the Operations Managers for daily reporting
- To ensure all company equipment and facilities are treated with care and respect, reporting any discrepancies to the Operations Managers
- Ensure all FLT’s keys are allocated and accounted for as per the relevant process
- Report to Operations Managers quantities of pallets loaded to backload vehicles to enable effective loading of vehicles throughout the shift
- To conduct an end of shift sweep of the Hub, identifying and reporting any freight that requires a discrepancy report
- To assist the Health and Safety Manager and always promote the Company Health and Safety procedures to include the team, trunk drivers and any visitors. To report all accidents/near miss and damages to the H&S Manager
- To carry out accident investigations under the guidance of the H&S Manager
- To consult the H&S Manager before performing or requesting employees to perform any duties currently not covered by TPN procedures/training.
- To ensure all employees have received specific training instruction to safely complete their daily tasks
- To assist the H&S Manager complete risk assessments.

Experience in a similar role
Counterbalance FLT licence
Ability to meet deadlines
Supervisory experience
