Overview
- We are looking for an IT Manager to join an exciting, growing business headquartered in Cambridge.
- You will ensure that the company is using best practices throughout, constantly reviewing the landscape for improvements and driving excellence across our operations.
- Additionally, you’ll play a key part of building and executing our IT strategy, as well as supporting a growing team of IT professionals.
Key tasks
- As the IT Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimising our IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operational support across the business.
- Reporting to the Director of IT, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day IT operations, managing a team of skilled IT professionals, and collaborating with various departments to support business objectives and growth.
- Ideally, the successful candidate will have progressive experience in managing teams or is ready to step-up and own operational support and delivery in a growing business.
- A strong focus on the Microsoft 365 technology stack is essential.
Key areas of focus for this role include: - Team Leadership Lead and mentor a team of 3 IT Support Technicians, with plans for additional growth in 2024 and beyond. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Identify and address skill gaps within the team through training, collaboration, and the implementation of shift-left principles. Conduct regular assessments to ensure continuous improvement in team performance as well as implementing professional development plans across the team. Support on/off boarding process improvements across the Pragmatic business.
- Microsoft Technology Leverage deep expertise in Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Azure, to maintain and enhance Pragmatic’s capabilities.Following a recent move to M365 E5 licensing, we are looking to leverage this capability to help strengthen our core security, collaboration, and endpoint roadmap.Stay up to date on the latest Microsoft updates and technologies, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency.
- Business Support & IT Management Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organisation's IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance. Maintain high availability, security, and scale of platforms.Implement initiatives to enhance business support services, focusing on improving efficiency and user satisfaction. Collaborate with the IT Director to ensure the alignment of IT policies and procedures with organisation goals.Be comfortable getting “hands on” and gaining a deep understanding of how the business is leveraging technology.Support the implementation of IT self-service capabilities – incident and request submission, tracking, security incident reporting, application status, knowledge base, and chat capabilities.
- Security and Compliance Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect the organisation's data and IT assets, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.Fully leverage our existing technical capabilities to secure our environment and identify opportunities for ongoing improvement.Support the team in developing new policies and controls and detailed understanding of these across the business.
- Collaboration and Communication Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand IT requirements and align technology solutions with business goals.Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on IT initiatives and addressing issues in a timely manner.
- Metrics and Data Leverage data points across the team to showcase our deliverables, targets, and progress to success.Contribute to the establishment of IT performance transparency across the organisation by defining critical business leadership metrics and reporting capabilities.Ensure that data-driven insights are used to inform strategic decision-making across IT and across the business.
- Vendor Management Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers and ensuring service level agreements are met.
Evaluate new technologies and solutions to enhance the organisation's IT capabilities.
Qualifications and training
- Demonstrable progressive experience in IT, leading and motivating teams to deliver their very best.
- Extensive experience of Microsoft technologies, particularly Microsoft 365, Azure, AAD.
- Strong team leadership skills.
- In-depth working knowledge of IT infrastructure, security, and compliance.
Skills and experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience in progressive IT team lead/leadership roles.
- Microsoft 365, including Teams, SharePoint, Entra and Endpoint/InTune.
- Windows Server 2012 & higher, VMware, HyperV.
- Windows 10+ support.
- Experience in supporting NAS/network shares.
- Strong cyber awareness.
- Experience in leveraging ITSM tools; Jira Service Management, ServiceNow, etc.
- Leads by example; can and will motivate the team to deliver success.
