Are you looking for...

We are recruiting for a Permanent Lead Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join a practice in Lanark, Scotland. This position is full time with weekends and OOH on a rota.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an Equine Vet to grow and develop the Equine department within the Animal Hospital.

The practice are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Equine Vet, ideally with a European Diplmoa, and that has a large amount of surgical experience particularly in equine orthopaedics.

The role will involve responsibilities including

- Developing the Equine department

- Increase the Equine caseloads

- Coachg and mentoring the team

- Drive the practice forward

The practice provides a range of 1st opinion services to horse clients within central Scotland and takes referral cases from all over Scotland. They take pride in having a low-level turnover of staff and provide ongoing support and funding for postgraduate courses with 9 of their current equine Vets gaining certificates in the last 10 years.

This is a fully equipped equine hospital with a theatre for surgeries along with stabling for 11 horses. They have all the toys including nuclear scintigraphy, gastroscopy, shock therapy and all other facilities and equipment expected in an equine hospital.

The Hospital has a large 45-metre square examination area with non-slip floor for routine examinations. The room has a set of custom-made stocks for endoscopy, reproductive examinations, dental work and standing surgery. They are equipped to deal with lameness examinations either undercover or outdoors. They have a 1000 square metre soft arena for observation. There is a gantry mounted X-ray machine which suspended above the examination area allowing horses to be x-rayed in virtually all areas of the room including when they are in the stocks.

This is an exciting time to be joining the practice as they are currently in the process of expanding the equine hospital further.
