Occupational Therapist - Elderly Team

Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn

Location

King's Lynn, Norfolk | United Kingdom

Job description

A Vacancy at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist wishing to take their next steps on the career ladder and looking for a new challenge. The individual needs to be proactive and enthusiastic and will be joining the Elderly Medical Team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The post holder working as part of an integrated team will work as an autonomous practitioner to provide a high standard of intervention across the speciality.

This integrated team is committed to providing highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients within the elderly and frailty setting. You will be required to work alongside your colleagues as an independent practitioner in applying a high level of clinical reasoning to ensure individualised, proactive and holistic assessment and treatment planning.

As a member of both the integrated rehabilitation service and the multidisciplinary teams on the wards, excellent skills in communication are essential.

As a Band 6 therapist you will be supporting and developing rotational Band 5 therapists. The role also involves supervising therapy support staff and educating therapy students on placement.

There will be opportunities for innovation and an expectation that you will be actively involved in relevant quality improvement projects to develop the Elderly Medicine team.

The integrated Rehabilitation Service aims to provide a progressive, forward thinking approach to patient care whilst able to support its staff in personal development and continued education and training.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King’s Lynn is located near some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, along the north Norfolk coast, and not far from Sandringham House.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire.

We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network.

In February 2022 the significant progress that has been made at QEH was recognised by the Care Quality Commission who rated the Trust as ‘Good’ in all of the core services they inspected. They recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures).

Please see attached job description and person specification for further information about the job role.
