Rewards and Benefits

About the Team

The SEND, Education and Early Years Commissioning Team sits within the wider 'Commissioning for Transformation' Directorate and work extremely closely with Educational Effectiveness colleagues . This ensures that sufficiency and sustainability of Early Years and wraparound provision goes hand-in-hand with high-quality, inclusive provision and that children's outcomes are positive and safe .

At the heart of our ambition is to develop a deeper understanding of our communities and the challenges they face - but also recognise their strengths, assets and aspirations - and look to work with them to improve the outcomes for children, young people and families .

We strive to ensure that every child has the best start in life. We do this by working with Health, Education and Social Care to commission providers that understand the importance of working holistically with children and their families. We have been successful over the past couple of years in developing The Best Start for Surrey Strategy and using Inclusion Pathway Planning to understand educational pathways for children and where we can help them thrive.

About the Role

We are looking for a Wraparound Coordinator to support the roll out of the Government's childcare expansion offer . You will be helping shape the future of Surrey's childcare offer to children and their families .

The government's ambition is that by September 2026, all parents and carers of primary school-aged children who need it will be able to access term time childcare in their local area between 8am-6pm . To support this ambition, the Government announced that it will provide up to £289 million of start-up funding over two academic years to support local authorities and providers in England to introduce or expand childcare provision on either side of the school day, which parents of primary school-aged children will be able to pay to access . This role will involve working in collaboration with teams across the Local Authority, schools, families, childcare providers (including private providers, childminders, community and voluntary organisations and early years settings) .

You will support the Early Years Implementation Lead to provide a clear understanding of the existing market, assess supply and demand and identify gaps in provision . You will support the development of wraparound childcare provision that is accessible to children and families, including those with additional needs and SEND .

The focus for this role will be leading on the childcare changes to the wraparound offer announced in the March 2023 budget that will increase the offer of childcare of school age children of working parents . The day-to-day activities for this role will be to create an extensive mapping exercise and consultation with both the sector and families using a variety of methods and engaging with a variety of providers . We need to establish the impact of the changes on the sustainability and sufficiency of our current wraparound provision and where the opportunities lie to ensure that the needs of families are met .
