Job description
What you will do in your working day
You will be expected to:
- Report to the Site Manager to assist in leading the development of the site through to completion; coordinating trades, directing labour and materials, whilst meeting a highly challenging schedule on time, within budget, with a focus on quality and customers
- Continue to develop through reviews with your coach and mentor
- Support the Site Manager in ensuring that the onsite construction team is fully resourced and well directed, with clear guidelines to their own job responsibilities and are provided with full support in achieving these
- Work in conjunction with the Sales Team to ensure that regular meetings are attended and all procedures are adhered to
- Ensure high standards of Health and Safety on site
- As and when required, deputise for the Site Manager
The training you will be getting
- Over the course of the 5 years, you'll achieve an industry accredited Cert HE and BSc (Hons) Degree in Professional Practice in Residential Development and Construction.
- You will also recieve industry certificates in Site Safety Plus Site Managers’ Safety Training Scheme and Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme which are required for safe operations in the workplace
- Functional Skills in maths and English will also be supplied if required.
- You’ll join as an Apprentice Assistant Site Manager within your chosen location, giving you hands-on experience from day one
- Each year you will complete four 1-week teaching blocks at Sheffield Hallam University through a combination of classroom and online teaching
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
Over the course of the 5 years, you'll achieve an industry accredited Cert HE and BSc (Hons) Degree in Professional Practice in Residential Development and Construction and have usually been promoted to Assistant Site Manager or above during the course of the Apprenticeship.
Typically apprentices have then gone on to become Site Manager or Contracts Manager.
