Job description
Due to the success and growth of our programmes we wish to appoint two Lectureships in the Biomedicine Subject Area primarily to further strengthen its activities in our accredited undergraduate provision offering the key clinical laboratory specialisms: medical microbiology, clinical biochemistry, hematology and transfusion science, clinical immunology, cellular pathology, and clinical genetics.
We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in, but not limited to broad areas of translational medicine, infectious diseases, advancements in regenerative medicine, pathophysiology of human disease, biochemistry (including nutrition), or host-microbe interactions. We are also particularly interested in candidates with existing links to employers and industry. Applicants should demonstrate their track record in research and should be able to demonstrate their independent research plans and commitment to high quality research-led teaching. The Biomedicine team delivers a range of well-respected programmes at undergraduate and taught postgraduate levels, which carry accreditation by the Institute of Biomedical Science and Royal Society of Biology. Current undergraduate teaching is centred around IBMS accredited BSc Biomedical Science, RSB accredited Human Biology and Infectious Disease, and the IBMS Healthcare Science Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship. At MSc level, taught provision includes Biomedical Science, Biotechnology and Drug Design and Discovery. The new posts will belong to the Biomedical Research and Innovation Centre (BRIC) which brings together a vibrant and collaborative community of scientists to address critical challenges faced by society.
