At Leonardo, we have a fantastic new opportunity for a Bid Manager to join the Mission Systems team within the Integrated Sensing and Protection Line of Business. In this role you will cover all aspects of Bid Management including, leading the preparation of compelling commercial proposals in response to formal ITT/RFQs or their equivalent and administering the Leonardo Business Winning Process.
What you’ll do as a Bid Manager:
- Ensure timely completion of high quality compelling bids and proposals with a properly authorised price.
- Manage bids in line with the Leonardo Business Winning policies and procedures, the Life Cycle Management policies and procedures as they apply in the Business Winning environment, and best practice guidance for critical proposal activities.
- Manage and monitor BPIA spend in support of allocated Mission Systems Bids reporting current spend at regular review points, investigating overspends.
- Attend Business Winning Reviews (BWRs) in support of allocated Bids.
- Develop and communicate a comprehensive bid plan and manage its delivery according to established bid processes.
- Plan, manage and lead the entire bid team activity from the early stages through solution development, costing/pricing, proposal preparation, submission and contract negotiation, leading to eventual contract award and hand over to the Project Delivery teams.
- Leading and presenting bid/tender approval meeting submissions.
- Manage all Bid documentation using appropriate and secure mediums
- Leading the Lesson Learnt review.

- Resilient to set backs and have the ability to keep going and encourage others to follow
- Confident presenter able to lead Offer Approval meetings with senior management
- Good written and oral communications skills
- High level of numeracy
Qualifications, Experience, Skills:
- Experience acting as bid manager for complex commercial proposals, ideally in the defence sector. (Typically between £5M - £10M)
- Previous experience of MoD bid process and procedures
- Proven history of winning Bids
- A clear understanding of all main roles within a bid team, and an ability to manage their complex interdependencies to ensure a successful bid submission.
- Understanding of best practice bid processes and tools (e.g. for bid planning, Black Hat, Red Team, Price to Win etc)
- Ability to generate complex cost bases and price builds
