Job Summary: Longfield Academy has a great opportunity to appoint a talented and inspiring Teacher of Science who will join us from April 2024,

Longfield Academy has a great opportunity to appoint a talented and inspiring Teacher of Science who will join us from April 2024, strengthening our already successful department even further. Our successful candidate will teach mainly across KS3 / 4 (with the ability to teach KS5), and will be passionate about their subject, committed to academic excellence and have the ability to motivate, support and enthuse students. You will join an established department with a friendly, dedicated team who achieve excellent results.

We can be receptive to teachers joining us at varying stages in their career; whether you are a recently qualified teacher or one who has many years teaching experience, we can ensure that you are developed within the department and wider academy.

We are looking for someone to join a strong team who supports each other to enable the students in science to achieve success. The department is forward thinking in terms of teaching and learning and curriculum design and is keen to ensure that the students not only gain knowledge and results but also gain cultural capital through workshops, trips, after school clubs and curriculum design.

Please note that interviews may be conducted on a rolling basis, therefore, early applications are encouraged to avoid disappointment.

Working with us: Longfield Academy offers a friendly and supportive working environment with innovation and collaboration at the heart of everything we do. The academy is recognised as an International Baccalaureate (IB) world school and delivers the Middle Years Programme (MYP) to students in years 7 -9. Our most recent inspection in 2018 confirmed that Longfield Academy continues to provide strong educational outcomes for students. The richness of our extracurricular activities allows our students to excel in drama, music, sports and STEM. Leaders of the academy are highly ambitious for all of the students. We have a strong drive for school improvement underpinned by a relentless focus on the core business of improving teaching and learning. We do not limit that ambition to the outcomes of public examinations; our students being prepared for life is equally as important to everyone at the academy. Our pastoral system is truly exceptional and we pride ourselves on the quality of care for every student. Our Post-16 provision continues to go from strength to strength, rated in the top 10% for Kent, with our students securing places at top universities.

Longfield Academy benefits from modern, state-of-the-art facilities for learning across all subject areas. We have a thorough and robust approach to school improvement, and the academy is well on course to becoming a truly Outstanding school.
