Teacher of Science 

Required from 02 September 2024

MPS/UPS + London Fringe Allowance 

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and engaging science teacher to join our fantastic school. The successful candidate will work within an ambitious, vibrant and high performing department to instil a love of science in all students. The department runs multiple A-Level classes in each of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Science, and an ability to teach one of those to A-Level would be expected of the successful candidate. The department routinely achieves a significantly positive value-added score each year at GCSE, plus excellent A-Level outcomes and has a strong track-record of large numbers of students going on to study science-related courses at university.

Educating approximately 1250 students, The Bishop’s Stortford High School provides a single-sex education for boys in Years 7 to 11 and has a thriving mixed sixth form of close to 400 students, including 120 female students. As a result of excellent teaching, our students consistently achieve fantastic academic outcomes at both GCSE and A-Level. Behaviour is exemplary in lessons and around the school. which means the school has a calm atmosphere and students are ready to learn. The school is relocating to a new site less than a mile from our current location. This exciting project will provide us with a fantastic new learning environment, supported by cutting edge technology, and huge opportunities for the future. Our vast list of extra-curricular activities and trips means students engage positively with school and represent our values with pride. Staff turnover is low, as they feel well-supported and enjoy working here, with many choosing the school for their own children.
