The School of Human and Health Sciences is seeking to appoint a professional and compassionate Student Retention and Engagement Assistant who understands the principles of good student support.
You will work as part of a small team in the School’s Student Hub to improve student engagement and retention in the School. You will be the first contact point for all attendance related matters and using your person-centred skills to identify barriers to engagement in studies and direct to appropriate support functions.
This is a varied and interesting role providing first line student support with a strong focus on retention.
As a Student Engagement & Retention Assistant you will:
- Act as a first point of contact to students with attendance queries.
- Liaise with colleagues in the team regarding individual students and refer as appropriate.
- Support colleagues in arranging attendance meetings.
- Be responsible for first line communication with students, advising students on attendance matters, helping identify students who are disengaged and maintain accurate records of interventions.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Excellent communication skills and a flexible and approachable attitude
- A good working knowledge of computer packages such as Microsoft Office.
- A desire to make a positive impact on the student journey at the University of Huddersfield.
