Job description
Operationally lead the patient safety department, which includes incident management (including the management of any commissioned investigations) Be the designated systems manager for the Trust’s local risk management system (LRMS) Ulysses safeguard which covers all aspects of governance including incidents, audit, complaints, litigation alerts, health and safety, bereavement involving system setup, maintenance, development etc.
The post holder will manage the patient safety team.

Overall responsibility as Ulysses Safeguard System Manager, for maintaining and developing the Trust's risk management system, Ulysses safeguard. This includes, contract negotiation/renewal, setup of new modules, liaising with i3 colleagues, providing support and advice to other governance teams using the system to advise of best practice
Ensure governance advisors maintain relevant information to provide evidence of compliance with regards to NHS England's Serious Incident Framework and all serious incidents and Patient Safety Incident Response Framework investigations are kept up to date.
Monitor Learning from Patient Safety Events (LFPSE) performance and work with the Head of Patient Safety and Complaints to make recommendations.
Update, design and oversee the delivery of training on incident reporting, incident management, investigation methodology, Duty of Candour and alert management for all front line staff and managers to ensure the patient safety processes is understandable and operated efficiently by all members of staff.
Provide a visible and accessible presence across the organisation, recognising and responding appropriately to urgent situations.
Deputise for the Head of Patient Safety and Complaints as required
The post holder will be listed as one of the Trust’s appointed Patient Safety Specialists
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay
Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals.
